Childhood has certainly been crazy for all of us. The stupid yet patriotic things we did on 14th August made the best memories of our childhood. Do you remember the things you did as a child on Independence Day? If not so here’s a flash back
1. Decorating your house with Jhandiyan
The ultimate preparations we did for 14th August as children. The core one included decorating your home. All those ringed or threaded jhandiyan made our day.
2. Attaching a flag to your vehicle
Attaching the small strawed flags to your cycles or cars was sure as hell fun. In fact, do you remember blowing up the flag through the straw?
3. The headbands,T-shirts, badges and so on..
The ‘namoona’ look we had by having all the funky badges, t-shirts and headbands. The dil dil Pakistan t-shirts we wore.
4. The green and white school functions
Remember preparing for an Independence Day function? Preparing for all those songs, quizzes and performances, we were so patriotic back then as children.
5. Milli Naghmay
Going all vocals and a die hard Pakistani by singing Dil Dil Pakistan. Jeeway Jeeway and so on.. No matter how bad we sounded.
6. Independence day stalls
Teaming up with your neighbors, friends or cousins to set a 14th August stall haven’t you? The little contributions we made to set it up were appreciated. How very passionate we were in childhood to celebrate 14th August.
7. Childhood Cries
Since August appears to be the peak monsoon month. Do you remember crying over all your spoiled and wet decorations because it rained?
We grew up but certainly we didn’t leave being patriotic. We left childhood became adults but our love for our motherland remains constant. By the passage of time we surely have changed our ways to express our love, from streets to technology. Here are some tweets of the patriots.
