These questions were gathered from my personal experience because I know what someone is going to ask me the first thing when I meet them. Most of the people genuinely do care about you and are concerned for you but the rest just ask because they want to stay updated about you so they can gossip further. This post is specifically directed towards them. So here are very famous and repeated questions you get asked when you tie the knot with someone who lives in another country.
1. “Visa Kab Araha Hai?/Visa agaya?”
This is the most asked question out of the list. Everyone you know, and I literally mean EVERYONE asks this. Whether you’re in a party, a funeral, or even your convocation ceremony. People just want to know when you’re leaving the country and going Piyaa Des.
2. “Phone per baat hoti hai?”
Everyone gets concerned if you and your significant other are actually communicating well despite the long distance, which leads us to the next question.
3. “Tum khush tou ho na?”
Since you and your partner are miles apart, people get worried if you are really happy or not or if he is taking good care of you even when he is not with you.
4. “Kia job kerta hai wo udhar?”
People have to make sure that your husband is financially sound and can afford your kharchay.
5. “Shaadi kab hai?”
This is because a nikah ceremony is not enough, we have to have a proper 4-5 functions of wedding planned ahead.
6. “Birthday/Anniversary pe kia gift diya?”
Everyone wants to know what special gift or surprise was given to you by your pardesi husband.
Putting a cherry on top, my neighbor wali aunty once shared a story about how this girl got bad treatment from her pardesi husband and how she ended up with a divorce, and I was like “Why are you telling me this?”
So to cut it short, girls who are in the similar situation as me, one piece of advice for you is to trust your instincts and your life partner. People may try to get you scared or worried, but as long as you’re communicating well with him then everything is good. Be prepared to face these questions if you recently got hitched, and stay strong!
