A sincere lesson Mohib Mirza gave someone long ago

The name of Mohib Mirza is not in need of an introduction. He got impressive contribution in Pakistan’s film and drama industry and is widely known for his fine performance in Aag Tvs sitcom “Ishrat Baji” and PTVs  “Zaibunnisa”. He is the only Pakistani actor to win an award at Kent’s film festival. Recently he was seen in action flick “Bachana”

What I am about to tell you is a true story that happened in 2009 to a friend and will be narrated in his own words

I was a student back then and my institute was near National Stadium in Gulshan-e-Iqbal. There was a flour shop at university road in front of Bait-ul-Mukarram mosque near the books market. My mom often asked me to bring flour while coming back after class.

One day when I was buying atta or flour from the same mini mill I saw Mohib Mirza standing near a grocery shop. He was talking to some guy, a vanity van was also near and a few camera  and technical people were also roaming here and there. I stood there for a while wondering what to do as I was a big fan of Mohib after Ishrat Baji. I wanted to talk but was confused.

Hopefully you remember my encounter with PREMI the epic producer who asked me for some QURBANI when I wanted to be an actor. (If your haven’t read about that incident you can check it here)

Anyway after that incident I had been really careful and afraid to make any efforts to become an actor. So at that moment I decided not to talk to him about becoming an actor and left to eat kachori sold at a thaila near Cafe Student. While coming back I saw him standing at the same shop where he was shooting a scene. This time I gathered my courage and went to him holding the brown paper bag of 10 kg flour and my university bag on my back.

“Assalam o Alaikum Mohib Bhai”

“Walekum as salam” He didn’t pay much of attention

“Aapka serial Ishrat Baji bohat tight hai maine bohat shok se dekha” It tried to continue the conversation.

“Thank you so much yar yeh wala serial bhi zarur dekhna I am sure tumhe pasand ayega” He told me the name of serial which i don’t remember now but he was so nice and gentle that I was suddenly relieved and my confidence increased to talk to him further.

“Mohib bhai main bhi actor banna chahta hun to aap thora guide karengay?” I asked him fully prepared to be insulted by him but surprises were waiting for me.

He became the most casual guy I have ever met

“Tumse kis ne kaha hai actor bannay?” He asked

“Khud se shoq hai bas” I replied

“Kuch pata bhi hai field ke baray mein?” He questioned

“Zada nahi pata” I was confused

“To BH** **** kuch pata hai nahi to kya zarurat hai” He placed his hand on my shoulder and was fully casual and I became comfortable after listening to the casual tone.

“Tum sach sach batao tumhe mera naam bhi pata tha Ishrat Baji se pehlay?” He asked

I shooked my head

“Ab khud dekh lo tumhe mera naam sirf aik dramay ki wajah se pata hai jab k main 10 saal se industry mein kaam kar raha hun yeh hai tumhari industry ki knowledge”

He made me regret asking the question

“Aur chalo maan lia k tumne apni knowledge barha li lekin os ke baad struggle ka pata hai?” He continued “Mujhe 8 saal tak ghar se pocket money nahi mili jab struggling time chal raha tha. Ghar walay sab is field ke liye mana karte thay koi support nahi karta tha socho mera kya haal raha hoga. Tum loog BH** **** samajhtay ho sab bohat aasaan hai”

“Nahi nahi Mohib bhai mujhe andaza hai bilkul aap ki mehnat ka” I tried to make a come back

“Chal BC koi andaza nahi mera naam tak nahi pata tha tumhe jhootay” he burst out laughing and opened a bottle of fanta from that shop and handed it to me

“Dekho meri advice yehi hai ke filhaal apni parhai pe focus karo aur saath saath industry pe bhi nazar rakho. Abhi tumhare parents tumhe parha rahay hain to unki baat maano aur jab parh likh lo tab is taraf anay ka sochna ke parhai puri karne se future safe hoga.”

“Ji sahi” I knew he was actually right.

“Aur agar tum bhi isi field mein aagaye to phir mujhe zarur batana mujhe khushi hogi” He was in fact motivating “Chalo ab jao kab se atta pakray kharay ho”

And I left to home . . .

Only because of his advice I never tried to come to this side till I completed my studies. Now I am a successful finance professional. Someday will try my luck again to get to the front side of camera. . .
