Is Extreme Maatam Really Allowed In Islam?-Analysis

Shia’ism is a lot more than just maatam or self flagellation. Karbala was a lot more then just mourning the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (AS). It was an incident full of messages. A message to never bow down in front of injustice. A message to fight for truth, till the last breath. Message full  of life.

Here is a thing which we like to inform to our shia brothers. Maatam is allowed in shia’ism but self flagellation is not allowed even in shia’ism.

ZANJEER ZANI AND RUNNING ON COAL OR EXTREME MAATAM(HURTING ONESELF DELIBERATELY):

A sane and true shia will REJECT this concept of hurting oneself deliberately. It is HARAAM. I repeat “HARAAM”. It is pure ignorance. A  true shia doesn’t believe in this concept. While mourning is considerable an should be done and its also a sunnah(According to shia’s) . Light maatam is not haraam. Its a ritual and a form of protest. Which has been carried on from centuries against the horrific and tragic incident if Karbala.

QAMA ZANI ON BABIES:

Qama is another name of cruelty but when it’s done to a baby it crosses a limit of inhumanity. Doing Qama to an innocent child “DOES NOT” represent SHIA’S in anyway.Doing Qama to a child is sick an we strongly condemn it. These extremists do not represent shia’s.

We are not against maatam. If anyone thinks that matam is bid’ah then surely madni boys dancing on a DJ system in Eid Milad Un Nabi is also a bid’aih. But we should’nt get in to this fight over that. Maatam is mustahab so is Eid Milad Un Nabi.

Allah loves his creatures more then seventy times then a mother can do, then how allah can see his creatures hurting themselves and feel satisfied with it? We want unity and should get rid of sectarianism. If you like dividing islam into sects, which is haraam because Quran clearly rejects the concept of sectarianism.

WE ARE NOT SUNNI’S, SHIA’S , BARELVI OR ANY OTHER SECT WE ARE MUSLIMS.WE BELONG FROM ONE UMMAH WE BELIEVE IN ONE GOD SO HOW WE CAN BE APART.
